Tyler Boyd Meeting with Chargers and Titans

Wide receiver Tyler Boyd remains a free agent even if he had 67 receptions for 667 yards and two touchdowns last season. But after the 2024 NFL draft, some teams are making their moves, hoping to acquire him.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Boyd met with the Los Angeles Chargers. The AFC West squad needs a boost at wide receiver after losing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. The Chargers addressed that concern by selecting Ladd McConkey, Brenden Rice, and Cornelius Johnson. They also signed undrafted free agents Jaelen Gill, Leon Johnson, and Jaylen Johnson.

Should Boyd decide to join the Los Angeles Chargers, his extensive experience could significantly contribute to the team's final roster, potentially making a notable difference on the field.

Meanwhile, the Titans signed Calvin Ridley to a four-year contract worth up to $92 million, with $49.98 million guaranteed at signing. He will join Treylon Burks and DeAndre Hopkins as second-year quarterback Will Levis's primary passing targets. Tennessee also drafted former Tulane wide receiver Jha'Quan Jackson.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Boyd in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft and gave him a four-year, $4.25 million rookie scale contract. In 2019, he signed a four-year, $43 million extension that lapsed after the 2023 season. He had back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2018 and 2019.

In addition to Boyd remaining a free agent, the Bengals assigned Tee Higgins the franchise tag. They are making these moves to clear cap space for Ja'Marr Chase's massive extension.
