Zack Martin Nearly Perfect for the Cowboys

Guard Zack Martin has been a stalwart on the Dallas Cowboys offensive line since he joined the squad in 2014. In ten NFL seasons, the former Notre Dame standout has nine All-Pro selections (seven First Team) and nine Pro Bowl selections.

To highlight one facet of his excellence, BroBible NFL writer Dov Kleiman compared Martin’s Pro Bowl selections to his career holding penalties. Kleiman pointed out that Martin only has eight holding penalties out of the 9,911 snaps he’s played throughout his career. He did not commit a penalty during the 2017 season.

Meanwhile, he has eight false start penalties, five of which occurred in his first three seasons. He has 21 accepted penalties in ten seasons.

Last year, Martin received a 69.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. However, pass blocking is his expertise, getting a 77.2 mark. While that number looks impressive, it’s the second-lowest pass-blocking grade of his career. His best year came in 2021, with a 93.9 mark.

Martin signed a two-year, $36.85 million contract with the Cowboys, keeping him with them until 2025. After that, it remains to be seen if he will play more football or hang up his cleats. However, his accolades have strengthened his case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
