Steelers Sign CB Cameron Sutton

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the signing of cornerback Cameron Sutton, marking the return of the former Tennessee standout who started his career with the six-time Super Bowl champions.

Sutton played the 2023 season with the Detroit Lions as part of the three-year, $33 million contract he signed during the offseason. He played in all 17 regular season games, finishing with 65 tackles, six pass deflections, and an interception.

However, as Click on Detroit's Ken Haddad wrote on March 21, the Lions released Sutton after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released an arrest warrant for Sutton due to a domestic violence case.

He turned himself in on the last day of March 2024. Eight days later, he was charged with misdemeanor battery.

The Steelers selected Sutton in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played five games in his rookie season, tallying five tackles and one pass deflection.

Sutton had his best overall season in 2022, the final year of his first stint with the Steelers. In addition to 43 tackles, he had career highs in passes deflected (15) and interceptions (3). In 101 career games, Sutton has 233 tackles (193 solo), 44 pass deflections, nine interceptions, six forced fumbles, and two sacks.

Sutton will join a cornerback rotation featuring Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson, and Josiah Scott in his return to Pittsburgh.
