CeeDee Lamb, Brandon Aiyuk Absent in Mandatory Mini-Camps

Two All-Pro wide receivers have stayed away from their respective teams during mandatory minicamp. The Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb and the San Francisco 49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk are exercising their leverage to secure a long-term contract.

Lamb earned a First Team All-Pro selection last year after tallying 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns out of 113 rushing yards. The former Oklahoma standout became the first NFL player to register at least ten catches and 150 yards in three consecutive games.

However, he seeks a long-term deal because he will play the 2024 season under the fifth-year option worth $17.991 million. Lamb will be a free agent with no extension in place.

Meanwhile, Aiyuk received a 2023 Second Team All-Pro nod after finishing with 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. His 17.9 yards per catch last season is a career-high. Likewise, he added 149 yards and a touchdown in three playoff games.

Aiyuk's girlfriend sparked rumors of the wideout's potential split from the 49ers. In a TikTok video uploaded days after Super Bowl 58, she stated, "This might have been the last day we touched foot on Levi's Stadium … because we might not be out here next season."

Like Lamb, Aiyuk will play the 2024 season under his fifth-year option worth $14.1 million. But his breakout season gives him an edge in negotiating a lucrative contract extension. Conversely, he might pay over $100,000 in fines if he continues to skip mandatory practices.
