The Miami Dolphins and veteran defensive end Calais Campbell have agreed to terms on a contract for the 2024 NFL season. While the terms of the deal remain a secret, it’s public knowledge that Campbell will be suiting up for his 17th NFL season.
The Dolphins need reinforcements for their pass rush after Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb suffered injuries late in the 2023 season. Phillips tore his Achilles tendon in Week 12, while Chubb tore his ACL five weeks later.
With the timetable for their return remaining indefinite, the Dolphins brought in Campbell, a three-time All-Pro defensive end, to give more bite to their defensive front. Campbell has also been a six-time Pro Bowler throughout his career, spanning stints with four teams.
Homecoming: Long-time Pro Bowl DE Calais Campbell, one of the biggest name free agents available, is expected to sign with the #Dolphins, per me and @TomPelissero. Back at home for The U superstar.

His best years as a pro occurred in 2017 and 2018 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. His 67 tackles, 14.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles helped the Jaguars reach the 2017 AFC Championship Game. He followed that up with 10.5 sacks and a career-high 72 tackles in 2018.
Before playing for the Jaguars, he spent nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, the team that selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, the Jaguars traded him to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2020 offseason for a fifth-round pick.
Campbell played the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year, $7 million contract. He played in all 17 games, tallying 56 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
In addition to Campbell, the Dolphins signed outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett and drafted defensive ends Chop Robinson and Mohamed Kamara.
