Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms on a five-year, $275 million contract extension. This deal ties him with Joe Burrow as the highest-paid player in the NFL in terms of annual average value.
Lawrence's massive extension includes $142 million in guaranteed money and a $37.5 million signing bonus. It also makes him the ninth NFL quarterback to have guaranteed money of at least $100 million.
The extension keeps him under contract with the Jaguars until the 2030 season. The 2024 season will be the final year under his four-year, $36.7 million rookie scale contract. Lawrence will play next season under the fifth-year option worth $25.6 million.

The Jaguars selected Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, a tumultuous season under Urban Meyer led to a 3-14 record. A year later, he helped the Jaguars win their Wild Card Round game against the Los Angeles Chargers despite being down by as many as 27 points.
Lawrence posted solid numbers in his second season under head coach Doug Pederson (4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns, 65.6 completion percentage). Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to earn the Jaguars a postseason berth, as they finished at 9-8.
In 50 regular season games, the former Clemson standout has 1,116 completions for 11,770 yards and 58 touchdowns. Lawrence will work with new wideouts Brian Thomas Jr., Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and Josh Cephus this season. Travis Etienne, Christian Kirk, and Evan Engram are still on the roster.
