Rhamondre Stevenson Agrees to Contract Extension with Patriots

Multiple sources confirmed that running back Rhamondre Stevenson and the New England Patriots agreed to terms on a four-year, $36 million contract extension. The deal includes $17 million in guaranteed money, making him the seventh highest-paid running back considering annual average.

While the breakdown for Stevenson's new contract is unavailable as of writing, it will keep him signed until the 2028 season.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport also shared the incentives that come with the contract. Stevenson can earn an additional $1.8 million if he reaches 1,400, 1,500, and 1,600 yards from scrimmage. He could get another $1.2 million if he becomes a Pro Bowler and an All-Pro member. Those incentives are available in every year of his contract.

The extension is ideal because Stevenson is in the final season of the four-year, $4.22 million rookie-scale contract. He's also worthy of this deal after tallying 2,265 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his first three seasons in New England.

The former Oklahoma standout had his best season (so far) in 2022 when he had 1,040 rushing yards, 421 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. A year later, he played in only 12 games but finished with 606 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Despite the down year, Stevenson remains the Patriots' primary option from the backfield, with Antonio Gibson, Kevin Harris, and JaMycal Hasty backing him up. The Patriots signed Gibson to a three-year, $11.25 million contract earlier this offseason.
