Dak Prescott Out of the Walking Boot

A source told ESPN’s Todd Archer that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is no longer using a walking boot. He caused an uproar when Spanish-language sportscaster Juan Carlos Vazquez tweeted a photo of Prescott wearing a walking boot while on vacation at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The 2023 Second-Team All-Pro member was in a boot after suffering a minor sprain on his right foot. While that optic can cause panic among Cowboys fans, he will be ready to participate in the team’s training camp starting on July 25.

It’s uncertain when Prescott suffered the sprain. However, it shouldn’t impede his performance as the Cowboys prepare for the 2024 season. But it’s noteworthy, though, that he wore the walking boot on the same leg where he suffered an ankle injury that limited him to five games during the 2020 season. He also suffered a thumb injury that sidelined him for five games in 2022.

While Prescott will soon return to total health, the more pressing issue is his contract extension with the Cowboys. The 2024 season will be the final year under his $160 million contract, and there’s no update regarding the negotiations between the two parties.

But for reference, Prescott earned his current contract extension in two years. The Cowboys designated him with the franchise tag for 2020 and 2021 before signing the deal, which averaged $40 million annually.
