With one year left in his current deal, left tackle Taylor Decker agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Detroit Lions. His new contract includes $31.8 million in guaranteed money and could keep him in Detroit until 2027.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes confirmed the new contract, which came after signing right tackle Penei Sewell to a four-year, $112 million extension. Meanwhile, the three-year extension extends Decker’s partnership with the Lions, which selected him 16th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.
While he is already the longest-tenured player on the Lions roster, he gets an opportunity to play his entire career for one franchise. More importantly, he and the Lions could be serious contenders for the Super Bowl, something he never experienced in his earlier days in Detroit.

Decker may be turning 30 next month, but he is still at the peak of his game, as proven by the 77.3 overall grade he received from Pro Football Focus. Meanwhile, he had a 92.4 percent pass block win rate last season, his highest clip since 2017. PFF also graded him 80 for pass blocking and 67.2 for run blocking.
