Wide receiver Marquise Brown’s status remains uncertain after he left the Kansas City Chiefs Week 1 preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a dislocated shoulder. Sports medicine expert Dr. Jesse Morse described it as a sternoclavicular dislocation, which could be life-threatening if not treated immediately.
Brown suffered the injury after Jaguars cornerback Montaric Brown tackled him while trying to field a pass from Patrick Mahomes. However, as ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted, Brown has been discharged from the Jacksonville-area hospital where he was admitted.
While Brown looks out of harm's way, his status for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is unclear. Another sports medicine practitioner, Dr. Deepak Chona, tweeted that Marquise Brown could be out of action until Week 2 when the Chiefs face the Cincinnati Bengals. However, if Brown missed an extensive period, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman Jr. could increase their snap count.
#NFL Injury Updates:#Chiefs Marquise Hollywood Brown - Likely Wk 1-2 return. Low performance impact, re-injury risk. Would buy if ADP slips#49ers Christian McCaffrey - Reports suggest mild calf. Slightly elevated re-injury risk through Wk 4. Likely playing Wk 1 at ~100%

The Chiefs signed Brown to a one-year contract, making him a vital part of their revamped passing attack. If everything goes according to plan, Mahomes will have free rein to throw darts to Brown, Rashee Rice, rookie Xavier Worthy, and tight end Travis Kelce downfield.
Before joining the Chiefs, Brown played two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals. The former Oklahoma standout started his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him 25th overall in the 2019 draft. He has 313 receptions, 3,644 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns in 72 regular season games.
