Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Agrees To Three-Year Contract Extension With Browns

The Cleveland Browns and linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $39 million. The extension includes $25 million in guaranteed money and would keep him under contract until the 2027 NFL season.

The linebacker from Notre Dame is coming off a season in which he established career highs in tackles (101), sacks (3.5), pass deflections (6), and interceptions (2). Those numbers earned him a Pro Bowl selection.

At 24, Owusu-Koramoah is already an integral part of the Browns defense that ranked first in total yards allowed (270.2) and passing yards allowed (164.7) per game last season. He has 247 tackles, five sacks, and four forced fumbles in 41 regular season games.

The Browns selected Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was coming off his final season with the Fighting Irish, wherein he became a Unanimous All-American and the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

The Pro Football Writers of America included him in their 2021 All-Rookie Team after he finished with 76 tackles, four passes defended, and two forced fumbles in 14 games. Now that he's in Cleveland for three more seasons, he can contribute to an elite defensive unit with Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson Jr., Za'Darius Smith, and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
