Can Jordan Whittington Make It To The Rams Starting Rotation?

Last year, the Los Angeles Rams unearthed Puka Nacua in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He ended his rookie season, establishing records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486). This year, the Rams may have pulled off another dark horse in wide receiver Jordan Whittington.

In two preseason games, the sixth-round draft pick from Texas had 11 catches for 126 yards. He had five catches out of eight targets for 52 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers and six receptions for 74 yards versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Whittington's numbers with the Longhorns didn't make him a standout prospect. In his best year with Texas (2022), he finished with 50 catches for 652 yards and a touchdown. However, his performance during preseason could earn him a spot in the Rams' starting rotation.

Whittington will join Nacua and former Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp if that scenario happens. He could also unseat Demarcus Robinson, who had four touchdowns with the Rams last season. More importantly, opponents will find it difficult to defend an offense with playmakers like Nacua, Kupp, Whittington, and running back Kyren Williams.

Could that firepower be enough to deliver the Rams' second Super Bowl title in four seasons? While the answer remains unknown, Whittington already shows he can be an asset for Los Angeles' NFC squad.
