With the 2024 NFL season fast approaching, there’s no consensus on the top tight-end option for fantasy football. As Player Profiler’s Chris O’Brien pointed out, nine tight ends could stake a claim for TE1 status.
While First-Team All-Pro George Kittle is among the best at his position, he’s got company, especially three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce. Likewise, Mark Andrews is returning to peak form after dealing with multiple injuries, while Evan Engram established career highs in receptions (114) and receiving yards (963) for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
There are 9 legitimate TE1 candidates in 2024:
— Chris O'Brien (@17gamepace) August 20, 2024
- Sam LaPorta
- Travis Kelce
- Trey McBride
- Mark Andrews
- George Kittle
- Dalton Kincaid
- Kyle Pitts
- Jake Ferguson
- Evan Engram
They all have a path.
However, the younger generation of tight ends are also making their case, starting with 24-year-old Trey McBride, who had 825 yards and three touchdowns for the Arizona Cardinals. Dalton Kincaid had a solid rookie season with the Buffalo Bills, while Kyle Pitts bounced back in his third season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Jake Ferguson had a breakout season for the Dallas Cowboys, tallying 71 catches for 761 yards and five touchdowns. Finally, Sam LaPorta received a Second-Team All-Pro nod in his rookie season after establishing Detroit Lions rookie records in receptions (86), receiving yards (889), and touchdowns (10) for tight ends.
