With the 2024 NFL season fast approaching, the Cincinnati Bengals expect wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase to play in their season opener at home against the New England Patriots. While Chase has been attending team practices during training camp, he wasn’t participating as part of holding in for a contract extension.
The Bengals should feel additional pressure in extending Chase’s contract after CeeDee Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys. While Chase has two years left in his rookie deal with the Bengals, his exceptional play makes him worth more than the $1.055 million base salary he will earn this year.
Chase will play the 2025 season under a fifth-year option worth $21.8 million. While that’s good money, it’s still a bargain, considering he’s had 1,000-yard seasons since entering the league in 2021. Those numbers led to three Pro Bowl selections, a Second-Team All-Pro nod, and the 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Meanwhile, 33rd Team NFL writer Ari Meirov tweeted that the San Francisco 49ers are expected to sign wideout Terrace Marshall Jr., released by the Carolina Panthers on August 27. The Panthers selected Marshall in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, he’s had 767 receiving yards and a touchdown in three seasons.

Worst yet, he hasn’t played an entire 17-game regular season since entering the pros. He will get a fresh start by getting a chance to contribute to one of the NFL’s top teams.
