Due to stalled contract negotiations, the San Francisco 49ers will likely miss offensive tackle Trent Williams for some regular season games. While Williams has three years left in his six-year, $138 million contract, his camp demands more guaranteed money from 2024 to 2026.
After Brandon Aiyuk agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract extension, Williams' contract must be next in line for the 49ers to address. Per Spotrac, the left tackle will earn base salaries of $20 million, $22 million, and $32.2 million for the remaining years of his contract.
However, until the 49ers can negotiate his contract, Trent Williams might continue to avoid the squad that traded for him in 2020. He hasn't been with the team since training camp, which extends the fines Williams must pay when he returns. However, those penalties would be nothing if he retained most of the $168.6 million he earned throughout his career.
BREAKING: 11x Pro Bowl tackle Trent Williams is reportedly a serious threat to MISS GAMES this season, ESPN reports.

Williams has become one of the best offensive tackles in the league since the Washington Commanders traded him to the 49ers for a 2020 fifth-round pick and a 2021 third-round selection. He became a First-Team All-Pro selection from 2021 to 2023 and a Pro Bowler over the last four seasons.
Pro Football Focus alludes to Williams' accolades, giving him overall grades of 91.9, 97.8, 93, and 89.9 in his four seasons with San Francisco. His absence could pressure fourth-year player Jaylon Moore to cover Brock Purdy's blind side from edge rushers.
