Jared Goff Plays Great Football At Home

Like last season’s NFC Wild Card Game, the 2024 season-opening matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams went down the wire. However, the same result occurred as the Lions emerged on top, this time needing overtime to claim victory. While David Montgomery scored the winning touchdown, Jared Goff’s 52-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams kept them in the game.

As the Lions’ official account on X/Twitter pointed out, that scoring throw to Williams marks Goff’s 22nd consecutive regular season home game with a touchdown pass. It’s a franchise record that started on November 26, 2021, when he threw for two touchdowns in their loss to the Chicago Bears.

During that stretch, Goff completed several multiple-touchdown games, including the four touchdowns he threw against the Washington Commanders on September 19, 2022. Two weeks later, the Pro Bowl quarterback had another four-touchdown game in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Goff also torched the Denver Broncos for five touchdowns on December 17, 2023. He feels good playing at home, as proven by the fact that 19 of his 30 touchdown throws last year occurred at Ford Field.

Meanwhile, the streak stretches to 24 games when considering the Lions’ two home playoff games last season. He had a touchdown pass during their 24-23 Wild Card win over the Rams and two touchdowns the following week versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

More importantly, the Lions will start the season at 1-0 for the second consecutive year. Goff also completed a decent stat line against the Rams, finishing with 18 completions out of 28 attempts for 217 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He and the Lions can maintain their momentum against the Buccaneers on September 15.
