Aaron Rodgers Finally Showed Up For Jets In Week 3 TNF Win

The last time Aaron Rodgers played a home game for the New York Jets, he lasted only four snaps due to a season-ending Achilles injury triggered by Leonard Floyd’s sack. A year later, the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player showed in a 24-3 Thursday Night Football win over the New England Patriots why New York’s AFC team traded for him.

In that game, Rodgers did something he’s never done in the first 19 seasons of his NFL career. His third-quarter touchdown pass to 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson marks the first time Rodgers threw a touchdown to a wide receiver drafted in the first round.

Before that scoring play, the veteran quarterback opened up the scoring when he connected on a ten-yard touchdown pass with long-time teammate Allen Lazard. When the game ended, Rodgers finished with an impressive stat line of 27 completions out of 35 attempts for 281 passing yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers translate to a 118.9 passer rating and an 81.8 ESPN QB rating.

It’s easily Rodgers’ best game (so far) this season, as he has gradually improved every week. From the 13 completions for 167 yards, one touchdown, and an interception against the San Francisco 49ers, he had 176 passing yards and two touchdown passes in their Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

If Rodgers maintains this rhythm, the Jets could experience greater outcomes this season. An MVP-like season from him could help end the Jets' playoff drought, which stretches back to 2011.
