The Dolphins Offense Are In A World Of Trouble

Last season, the Miami Dolphins were ranked first in total yards (401.3) and passing yards (265.5) per game. They also finished second in points per game (29.2) behind the Dallas Cowboys (29.9) and scored 70 points against the Denver Broncos.

This year, the Dolphins couldn't maintain their production from last season. That concern is highlighted by the 12 points they scored in their Week 4 Monday Night Football loss to the Tennessee Titans. That’s an uncharacteristic output for a team with Jaylen Waddle, DeVon Achane, and Tyreek Hill.

Worst yet, the Dolphins have generated only 25 points in their last three games, a stark contrast from the 20 points they tallied during their season-opening victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, The 33rd Team NFL writer Ari Meirov pointed out that the Dolphins haven’t scored a touchdown in nine quarters.

Through four games this season, the Dolphins are 26th in total yards (285) and 23rd in passing yards (187.3) per game. They are also 24th in rushing yards (97.8) and dead last in points (11.3) per game.

Their numbers took a hit after Tua Tagovailoa dealt with a concussion during their Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills. Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley tried filling in Tagovailoa’s shoes but to no avail. At 1-3, the Dolphins must find a way to end this slump, or they can bid farewell to another playoff berth. They must do better than their current output because four of their next five games will be on the road.
