Chiefs Place Rashee Rice On Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs offense took another hit after placing wide receiver Rashee Rice on injured reserve. The announcement came after the former SMU standout suffered a knee injury during their Week 4 game against their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers.

Unfortunately, Rice incurred that injury after colliding with his teammate, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was trying to impede an opponent after throwing an interception. Despite that turnover, the Chiefs won their fourth consecutive game to start the 2024 NFL season.

While the Chiefs still emerged victorious, Rice’s injury adds to the uncertainty revolving their offense. Since he is on IR, he will be out for at least four games, making his earliest return by Week 10 when they face the Denver Broncos. For now, Rice has 26 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown for the season.

Meanwhile, though Mahomes remains healthy, the unit around him is depleted due to other injuries. Isiah Pacheco is also on IR after suffering a fractured fibula in Week 2 versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Likewise, Marquise Brown is also on injured reserve due to a sternoclavicular injury. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is on the non-football illness list because he’s dealing with PTSD. Meanwhile, Kareem Hunt and Mecole Hardman Jr. are tagged as questionable for their Week 5 match against the New Orleans Saints.
