Mike Evans Joins Elite Company After Buccaneers' Week 5 Loss

Unfortunately, Mike Evans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a disappointing overtime loss against the Atlanta Falcons in their Week 5 Thursday Night Football encounter. However, as a consolation, Mike Evans’ performance in that thrilling match puts him among the NFL’s best wide receivers of all time.

Evans finished the game with five catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Those scoring receptions gave him 100 career touchdowns, which only a handful of wideouts have accomplished. The feat is more astonishing because Evans achieved it in 160 games, placing him in rare company.

As the Hard Rock Bet account on X/Twitter pointed out, there are only five NFL wideouts with at least 100 receiving touchdowns in their first 160 games. Only Evans, Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and Marvin Harrison have accomplished that fantastic achievement. That’s four Hall of Fame receivers preceding Evans in that small group.

In addition to 100 career touchdowns (and counting), Evans has an active streak of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. His count is currently at ten, and he can continue the streak if he gains at least 724 more yards this season.

Since the Buccaneers have 12 regular season games left, Evans must average 48.3 yards per game to reach 1,000. The veteran wide receiver will target that number as he and the Buccaneers try to bounce back in Week 6 versus the New Orleans Saints.
