Derek Carr Missing Some Action Due To Injury

The New Orleans Saints have announced that quarterback Derek Carr will miss some time due to an oblique injury he suffered during their 2024 Week 5 Monday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo said Carr’s condition could force him out for at least two weeks. If that’s the case, he won’t be able to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Denver Broncos on a Thursday Night Football clash.

However, the two-week timeframe is more of a speculation, meaning Carr could be out for long. Therefore, the team replacing him should maintain its momentum as it stays toe-to-toe with its division rivals. After five games, the Saints are one game behind co-division leaders Atlanta Falcons and the Buccaneers.

Jake Haener checked in after Carr suffered the injury. The second-year player from Fresno State finished with two completions for 17 yards. However, Spencer Rattler could take over if Haener didn’t perform according to the lofty expectations. The former First Team All-Big 12 member was the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 Senior Bowl, proving he has the talent to succeed in the NFL.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen will have a tough decision because it could make or break their season.
