Tom Brady’s name has been floated whenever an NFL team has a quarterback crisis. After all, his stats during his final NFL season (490 completions, 4,694 passing yards, 25 touchdowns) aren’t indicative of a player who has exhausted his football tank. However, the rumors of Brady returning to play are over after the other team owners have approved his status as Las Vegas Raiders minority owner.
It’s Brady’s second investment in a Las Vegas-based sports team after buying some stock in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. Mark Davis, the son of legendary football lifer Al Davis, is the majority owner of both squads.
Multiple reports revealed that Brady will own up to 10 percent of the Raiders. This new designation puts him in a unique light because he’s also doing color commentary for Fox Sports. Therefore, as a team owner, he couldn’t criticize game officials even when he’s on the broadcast booth. It’s also interesting to see the seven-time Super Bowl winner cover the games of the franchise he partially owns.
Meanwhile, if this is the permanent end of Brady’s illustrious career, it would be difficult for any quarterback to match his enormous accomplishments. In addition to his Super Bowl victories with two teams (New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers), he’s also a three-time NFL Most Valuable Player.
In 23 seasons, he finished with 7753 completions for 89,214 passing yards and 649 touchdowns. More importantly, he excelled in the playoffs, tallying 1,200 passes for 13,400 yards and 88 touchdowns. His 102,614 passing yards and 737 touchdowns are records that might never be broken.
