Tyler Bass did not waste the opportunity to hand the Buffalo Bills their seventh victory in nine games. He drilled a 61-yard field goal with five seconds left in regulation to lead his team over their division rivals, the Miami Dolphins.
That conversion makes Bass only one of a handful of placekickers who have converted a field goal from at least 60 yards away. Justin Tucker holds the record with a 66-yarder in 2021. As for Bass, it’s the first 60-yard conversion in his NFL career. More importantly, he completed all three field goal attempts to help the Bills improve to 7-2.
Through nine games, Bass has converted 15 of 18 field goal attempts. His three misses came within the 40 to 49-yard range, and he has been perfect from 50 yards out.

Bass experienced some rough patches throughout the season. In Week 7, he missed a field goal attempt and an extra point. Against the Dolphins, he missed another extra-point attempt and had a kick bounce off the upright before going in.
His inconsistencies led the Bills to sign Lucas Havrisik to the practice squad, putting pressure on Bass to play better. However, Buffalo let Havrisik go in Week 8, manifesting renewed confidence in Bass.
Bass and the Bills can extend their winning streak to five games by defeating the Indianapolis Colts on the road in Week 10.
