Russell Wilson Is Balling For Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers faced much criticism after changing their quarterback from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson. After all, Fields was having success behind center while Wilson was recovering from a calf injury. However, the one-time Super Bowl winner proved that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made the right move.

Wilson led the Steelers to a 3-0 record since becoming the starter. He has completed 50 passes for 737 yards and six touchdowns throughout those games. His 105.9 passer rating is third-best among quarterbacks with at least three starts. Only Lamar Jackson (123.2) and Joe Burrow (108.1) are better than him in that category.

In his first game this season, Wilson had 16 completions for 264 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Jets. He followed that with 20 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown versus the New York Giants. The eight-time Pro Bowler contributed three touchdowns in their 28-27 victory against the upstart Washington Commanders.

Those victories allowed the Steelers to retain the top spot in the highly competitive AFC North. Wilson’s confidence grows with each victory, which will be helpful as their schedule gets more challenging. Six of their eight remaining games are against division rivals, while the other two are against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Maintaining his performance through their upcoming games puts the Steelers in good hands.
