Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a five-year, $92 million contract extension. While the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the contract keeps him signed until the 2029 NFL season.
After being selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Lenoir received a four-year, $3.76 million rookie-scale contract from the Niners. However, he proved that he was worth more than that deal after finishing with 79 tackles, five passes defended, an interception, and a sack in his second season.
Lenoir followed that up with his best season with the 49ers, tallying 84 tackles, ten passes defended, and three interceptions. This year, Lenoir has six passes defended and a forced fumble in nine games. His efforts have the Niners ranked 12th in passing yards allowed per game (197.4) and ninth in total yards allowed per game (303.7) through Week 10.

Meanwhile, the $18.4 million annual average of Lenoir’s new contract ranks him 12th among cornerbacks. The $92 million value is the sixth-highest in his position, behind Patrick Surtain II, Trevon Diggs, Marlon Humphrey, Marshon Lattimore, and Denzel Ward.
Lenoir’s new contract will commence next season because he is still in the final year of his rookie contract. He will set his sights on stopping DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockette, or Jaxon Smith-Njigba this week as the Niners face their division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.
