Last week, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had one of his worst NFL performances. However, despite throwing for five interceptions, the Lions won against the Houston Texans. What’s important, though, is how he bounced back from that terrible performance. Torching the Jacksonville Jaguars a week later should make him a serious contender for this season’s NFL Most Valuable Player award.
Goff missed only five throws (24 of 29) for 412 passing yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers led to a perfect 158.3 passer rating in their 52-6 victory over the Jaguars. This performance against Jacksonville is his fifth game with a completion rate of at least 80 percent, an NFL single-season record.

The former top overall pick distributed the wealth en route to their ninth victory in ten games. In addition to touchdown passes to Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, he fed Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery for rushing touchdowns. It’s the eighth time St. Brown, Gibbs, and Montgomery scored a touchdown in the same game, the most by a trio of teammates in a single NFL season.
Goff has a 73 percent completion rate through ten games for 2,492 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. Take away the Texans game, and he only has four interceptions. He could aim for his fourth game with a passer rating of at least 150 this season when the Lions face the Indianapolis Colts next week.
