Tom Take Two Wins Blackout

Tom Mignone from Odenton, MD and his team Tom Take Two win Week 12 of the Blackout with 239.00 points.

Tom took full advantage of the NFC Bonanza this week. Every player he selected was from the National Conference. He only selected three of the top scoring players but sidestepped a slew of busts and snagged serviceable starts at all the skill positions to narrowly claim the top spot.

Thanks to everyone for participating in Week 12’s NFC Bonanza. To celebrate Thanksgiving, Week 13 of the Blackout will exclude only players from Thursday and Friday’s games! Except, while Giants at Cowboys in an American tradition, it's not much of a challenge for the Blackout. So I'm calling an audible, sending Giants at Cowboys to the kids table and subbing in Eagles at Ravens as an honorary Thanksgiving game. Week 14 will be back to the normal player pool.

Week 13 of the Blackout is live

There was not much separation between the top rosters in Week 12. Jayden Daniels(QB1) was on all 5 top scoring rosters as well as Saquon Barkley(RB1). AJ Brown(WR5) made all 5 and Trey McBride(TE1) and the Vikings Defense(DST10) made 4 rosters. Tom Take Two took a drubbing at the bottom of the roster, getting just 15 points from his PK and DST spots vs an average of 29 from the other top scorers. He held serve at QB and made up most of that ground at WR. Cooper Kupp(WR8) was the key start adding 20.00 points, giving Tom a 6.53 point advantage at the position and propelling him to a narrow 2.00 margin of victory. Check out this week’s winning roster:

The blackout was bound to struggle in a week where all the best NFC players were available, and predictably only 4 of the top scorers were blacked out. AFC hot hands Courtland Sutton and Jonnu Smith continued their streaks. Will Lutz and the Texans defense both put up season highs to earn their Blackout tags. And speaking of overachieving, Tua Tagovailoa finally found Jaylen Waddle to snag two spots on the perfect roster with season high scores for both. However, neither Waddle(WR2) nor Jordan Addison(WR1) were included on a single roster this week! Along with Noah Gray’s 2nd 2 TD game and a solid outing from Daniel Carlson, only 4 AFC players were available from the Perfect Roster in NFC Bonanza week. The most selected roster fell off considerably from last week’s season high 70.89%. Week 12’s most popular roster put up just 59.79% of the available points. The 4th lowest percentage of the season. It’s not hard to see where things went sideways. AJ Brown’s popularity salvaged things a bit but the most popular roster scored just 39.80 points from the WR position, the perfect roster had 81.90, more than double. Justin Jefferson was available for just the 3rd time this season and his 4.70 points as the 5th most selected player was arguably the bust of the week. Amon Ra St. Brown was the most selected by far, at nearly 75%. His 12.20 was slightly better but the scope of the damage that score did is staggering. I guess the lesson here is that it’s the low hanging fruit that’s most likely to smack you in the face, at least at WR. Take a look at the most selected roster:

Things continued to heat up at the top of the overall rankings. The leader, Joe Kapp, put in another strong showing, finishing 55th on the week. In 2nd place Northern King also had a great week. His 31st place finish shaved 6.15 points off the lead. Northern King is now trailing by just 30.25 points. Henne to Manningham and Troy R. both moved up a spot to 3rd and 4th respectively. Tom Take Two leapt up from 9th to round out the Top 5 with his victory. He’s 56.20 off the pace after trailing by 87.30 last week. Here’s a look at the Top 25 Overall:
