Top Two Receivers Validates LSU's Reputation as 'Wide Receiver University'

With the 2024 NFL regular season approaching its homestretch, the great players have separated themselves from the good ones. Therefore, seeing familiar names on the receiving yards list is unsurprising. However, what’s fascinating is that they came from the same school.

Through Week 14, Ja’Marr Chase leads the league in receiving yards with 1,319. The Cincinnati Bengals wideout is also on a Triple Crown watch because he leads the league in receiving touchdowns and receptions.

Behind him is Justin Jefferson, who has 1,170 yards. Last season, the former Offensive Player of the Year reached 1,000 yards despite playing only ten games.

Chase and Jefferson came from Louisiana State University and were teammates for two seasons. They helped the Tigers win a National Championship, with Joe Burrow throwing the ball to them. Jefferson entered the NFL a year before Chase did, breaking Anquan Boldin’s record for most receiving yards by a rookie. However, Chase broke that record after Jefferson established it.

In addition to Chase and Jefferson, the Tigers also produced Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars), Malik Nabers (New York Giants), Kayson Boutte (New England Patriots), and Terrace Marshall Jr. (Carolina Panthers).
