The Detroit Lions have completed the transformation from perennial losers to legitimate contenders. After finishing at 9-8 in 2022, they had their first double-digit win season last year and played in the NFC Championship Game. This season’s Lions could do something never done in franchise history.
As the NFL on CBS account on X/Twitter pointed out, the Lions are one of five NFL teams that never had at least 13 wins in a season. The other teams in that group are the New York Jets, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns.

However, the Lions have four opportunities to remove themselves from that list. After hosting the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, they will go on the road to face the Chicago Bears and a rematch of the NFC title game with the San Francisco 49ers. Detroit will close the season against the Minnesota Vikings, a game that could decide the NFC North.
Dan Campbell’s crew is on a fantastic run, winning 11 consecutive games after a Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While they have clinched a playoff berth, their final seeding is still in the air. However, getting to 13 wins signals that the Lions are no longer underdogs.
