Jaguars Fire Doug Pederson, Raiders Part Ways With Antonio Pierce

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson after three seasons. They hired him in 2022, two years after he left the Philadelphia Eagles. Pederson led the Jaguars to consecutive 9-8 seasons in 2022 and 2023 before finishing the 2024 season at 4-13.

The former quarterback won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. As a coach, he guided the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title after defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Before his head coaching stints, Pederson was a quarterbacks coach with the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders fired Antonio Pierce as head coach. He became interim head coach after the team parted ways with Josh McDaniels. While he had some success in the interim, he couldn’t replicate those results when he was a legitimate head coach. The Raiders went 4-13 this season, putting them sixth in the 2025 NFL Draft order.

Pederson and Pierce add to the list of head coaches fired during or after the 2024 season. The New York Jets fired Robert Saleh, and the New Orleans Saints did the same with Dennis Allen. Matt Eberflus (Chicago Bears) and Jerod Mayo (New England Patriots) are also out.
