Evans-Lattimore

Old rivals set to meet in the postseason

It looks like the latest installment of Mike Evans versus Marshon Lattimore is on. Lattimore off Washington’s injury report; he’s going to play.

These two had a fierce rivalry for years in the NFC South. They’ve been involved in three on-field altercations, with Evans ejected from one game and fined and suspended after two others. They’re both good, they’re both big and physical, and they don’t seem to like each other.

The Saints traded Lattimore in November, but he’s played in only two games for the Commanders so far as he’s battled a hamstring injury. But all indications are he’s healthy, ready to resume his battle with Evans.

They’re played 13 games against each other, and Lattimore has tended to play Evans well. Most recently, Tampa Bay shredded New Orleans in October (winning 51-27) but Evans in that game caught only 2 of the 6 passes thrown his way, for 34 yards.

In 13 games against Lattimore, Evans has caught only 34 passes for 567 yards, with 4 TDs. That averages out to 2.6 catches for 44 yards in an average game. Evans caught less than 52 percent of the passes thrown his way in those games, while his career average is 59 percent against other opponents.
