Has Matthew Stafford Played His Final NFL Game?

While the Philadelphia Eagles had the better roster, the Los Angeles Rams were right there with them during the final minutes of their Divisional Round matchup. They couldn’t have established a fierce challenge without quarterback Matthew Stafford.

The veteran quarterback had 26 completions for 324 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. They had the chance to win the game in their final drive, but they couldn’t drive the ball past the goal line.

Stafford didn’t have an interception through two playoff games. Likewise, they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round despite Minnesota having more victories. However, after losing to the Eagles, there’s a possibility that Stafford might hang up his cleats for good.

After the Eagles game, Stafford shared with the press that he still has some football left in him. However, he will use the offseason to contemplate his decision of whether to continue playing or retiring from football. While he has two years left in his four-year, $160 million contract, he can opt out once the 2024 league year ends.

If this is the end, Stafford had a great run with the Rams, bringing them a Super Bowl championship and three playoff appearances. He became a Pro Bowler last season but lost in the Wild Card Round to his former team, the Detroit Lions. Stafford’s retirement will leave the Rams a massive void to fill.
