Several credible sources, including Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot and NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport, have shared Myles Garrett’s statement about requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns. The statement reads:
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl – and that goal fuels me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.” “While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” “With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

Garrett’s statement is a sideswipe to an earlier response from Browns general manager Andrew Berry, wherein he said, “We’re looking forward to him being on the field. Like I said in my press conference, we envision him going from Cleveland to Canton when his career is over.”
The Browns made Garrett the top overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he has earned six Pro Bowl selections, six All-Pro nods (four First-Team), and last season’s Defensive Player of the Year award. He had double-digit sacks in all but one season (his rookie year, wherein he played in only 11 games).
While the race to acquire an elite edge rusher in Garrett will intensify, his price tag won’t be cheap. Given that he’s still at the peak of his career, multiple first-round picks could start the bidding.
