Texans hire Nick Caley as offensive coordinator

The Houston Texans have hired Nick Caley as offensive coordinator, replacing Bobby Slowik, whom they fired following their Divisional Round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Caley will work under head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Before joining the Texans, Caley was the tight ends coach and passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. Before joining the Rams, he worked with the New England Patriots from 2015 to 2022.

The 42-year-old coach won two Super Bowls with the Patriots, wherein he was mostly a tight ends coach. Caley will work with a talented unit led by 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud. He will also coach Joe Mixon, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell.

Before working in the NFL, Caley started his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, John Caroll University. He also had coaching stints at Akron, Auburn, Iowa State, Eastern Illinois, Arkansas, and Florida Atlantic.
