Aaron Rodgers’ highly anticipated stint with the New York Jets has ended after the team announced they will be moving on from the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player. While Jets fans hoped that Rodgers behind center will revive the franchise, his place at the helm was largely disappointing.
According to The Athletic senior NFL insider Dianna Russini, the team informed Rodgers that if he were to return to the squad, he must refrain from making appearances in ESPN’s ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ With that condition, the Jets are making a transition at the game’s most important position.
Rodgers’ first season with the Jets ended after four snaps due to a torn Achilles he suffered after a sack from Leonard Floyd. While he played 17 games in 2024, he threw for 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

While the Jets will get massive salary cap relief after parting ways with Rodgers, it’s uncertain what they’ll do to address their quarterback situation. They could us the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to find Rodgers’ replacement or find one through free agency.
Meanwhile, it’s uncertain if Rodgers has played the final game of his storied NFL career. However, he could attract interest from quarterback-needy teams once free agency for the 2025 season starts.
