Jose Quintana, Brewers Agree to One-Year Contract

According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, starting pitcher Jose Quintana reached a one-year agreement with the Milwaukee Brewers. Quintana spent the last two seasons with the New York Mets, going 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 170.1 innings.

Eclipsing 100 strikeouts for the first time since 2019 is a nice bounce back for a pitcher who only had 13 starts in 2013 because of a rib lesion that required surgery. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old pitcher had a 2.77 ERA in 18 starts and allowed only one earned run from August 25 to September 18.

In the postseason, Quintana did not surrender a run in his two starts against the Brewers and the Phillies. However, he gave up five runs in the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Quintana will join a team that he has dominated throughout his career. In 22 starts against the Brewers, he had a 2.98 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 130 innings. The Brewers hope that his signing and reunion with former Mets general manager Billy Eppler will help the squad get past the NL Division Series.
