The New York Jets released wide receiver Davante Adams, ending his stint with the AFC East squad at 11 games. The Jets will save $29.9 million in cap space by releasing the former Fresno State standout. Likewise, Adams had no guaranteed money left in his contract.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded Adams to the Jets in exchange for a conditional pick, which eventually turned out to be a 2025 third-rounder. It would have been a second-rounder if Adams made an All-Pro team or reached the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl LIX. This transaction reunited him with four-time NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers.
Adams played 14 games between the Raiders and the Jets last season, finishing with 85 catches for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. At one point in his career, he was the game’s highest-paid wideout after the Green Bay Packers traded him to the Raiders.
He became one of the game’s best wide receivers during his time in Green Bay, as proven by his two First-Team All-Pro and five Pro Bowl selections with the Packers. He also led the league in touchdown receptions twice (2020 and 2022).
With the Jets releasing him, Adams is free to sign with any NFL team.
