Zack Baun’s terrific first season with the Philadelphia Eagles paid off via a three-year, $51 million contract extension with $34 million in guaranteed money. Before joining the Eagles, he was mostly a special teams player with the New Orleans Saints and even incurred a season-ending calf injury in 2022.
The Eagles brought him on a one-year contract and transitioned him into inside linebacker. Philadelphia’s investment paid off, resulting in a First-Team All-Pro selection for the former Wisconsin standout. Baun established career highs in tackles (152), sacks (3.5), and forced fumbles (5) in 17 regular season games. More importantly, he helped the Eagles win their second Super Bowl championship.
Baun’s extension keeps him under contact with the Eagles until the 2027 season, when he turns 31. Before this massive contract, he has roughly earned $6.4 million throughout his career. Now, his $17 million average makes him the fourth highest-paid inside linebacker in the league after Roquan Smith, Fred Warner, and Tremaine Edmunds. His return also keeps the Eagles’ vaunted defense intact as they defend their championship.
