Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers shared with reporters that he’s open to being their designated. Earlier in the offseason, the three-time Major League Baseball All-Star was apprehensive in embracing the shift.
“I’m good to do whatever they want me to do,” Devers said regarding the shift to DH. This time, his change of heart could give the Red Sox more flexibility in building their rosters. Likewise, it highlights Devers’ best attribute.
The Red Sox signed Devers to a ten-year, $313.5 million contract in 2023. Since then, he has won his second Silver Slugger Award and earned his third All-Star selection. Last season, he slashed .272/.354/.516/.871 with 28 home runs and 83 RBIs.
