The Texas Rangers pitching rotation will take a hit after left-hander Cody Bradford is on the injured list due to soreness in his throwing elbow. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed the news after Bradford’s MRI showed no major concerns. Despite avoiding a scare, his availability for Opening Day remains uncertain.
Bradford was supposed to start in a spring training game last Wednesday. However, the Rangers scratched him and gave him a ten-day rest.
Bradford went 6-3 with a 3.54 ERA, a 1.009 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 13 starts for Texas last season. He was with the team during their World Series run, pitching in five postseason games. In his first year with the Rangers (2023), he went 4-3 with a 5.30 ERA in eight games.
His injury is the latest blow to the Rangers’ starting rotation from the mound. Tyler Mahle is also dealing with forearm soreness but is expected to return soon.
