Offseason talk is cheap, but Dak Prescott says he likes what he’s seen of George Pickens. And Prescott doesn’t sound like a guy who’s just saying what coaches and players are supposed to say at this time of the year.
“Go turn on that guy’s tape,” Prescott says. “He’s getting separation. He’s got separation even when he’s not getting the ball at times, and when he doesn’t have separation, he’s still making the catches. It’s not going to be hard. For me, it’s about getting the ball near that guy and he will be George Pickens. Go turn on the tape — he’s great at doing it.”
The Cowboys, of course, already have CeeDee Lamb, who’s one of the best half dozen receivers in the game. That should limit Pickens’ opportunities. But Lamb also ensures Pickens should see plenty of favorable coverage situations.
Prescott earlier this week said it’s “exciting as hell” to be throwing to the Lamb-Pickens receiving tandem.
Pickens has been temperamental at times. Maybe some of those issues pop up at some point along the line. But I’m thinking there will be some games where he helps swing things Dallas’ way.
In PPR leagues, about 16 points per game is what’s needed to finish with top-10 numbers. Pickens in Pittsburgh did that about a third of the time – 15 times in three years.
With Dallas, Pickens will be working with a quarterback far better than what he had with the Steelers.
