Around the NFL: Diontae Johnson

Nothing like shaking up the wave of free agent signings with a good old-fashioned player for player trade. Diontae Johnson is out in Pittsburgh, traded to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson -- if their lockers are denoted by initials, they can just take each other's. Who are the winners and losers?  more »

Around the NFL: WRs on the move

Yesterday's Jerry Jeudy trade was just one in what might be a lot of wide receivers changing teams in the next few days. Diontae Johnson might be on the trade block, while Calvin Ridley will have suitors outside Jacksonville.   more »

Around the NFL: Arthur Smith

The Steelers have hired Arthur Smith as their offensive coordinator. Seldom has a coaching hire been met with more disappointment in the fantasy community. With Smith an apparent negative for top-10 talents in Atlanta, what are the chances of him elevating the Steelers?  more »

Dynasty Leagues: Long-term WR rankings

George Pickens catches two long touchdowns against the Bengals, serving as a reminder that while there’s some diva and attitude, there’s also off-the-charts athleticism and talents. He’s one of the up-and-coming wide receivers in the league.  more »

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DIONTAE JOHNSON will reportedly miss up to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the team’s season opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Factoid: Efficient receivers

George Pickens and DeVante Parker were discussed on the website this week. Both finished at the 2nd-most productive receivers on their teams last year, but both averaged over 2 more yards per pass play than their team’s No. 1 guys.   more »

Factoid: Touchdown passes

While discussing George Pickens and Diontae Johnson (pictured) this week, the glaring weakness from Pittsburgh last year was touchdown passes. They threw just 12, which is a pitiful number. I said I thought they should throw at least 20 this season, and I still believe that, but some support for that belief is in order.   more »

Factoid: George Pickens

While working on another item, I noticed a striking disparity between the Steelers' main wideouts last year. George Pickens and Diontae Johnson had a similar number of receiving yards, but in every other respect they were a lot different. Pickens was a lot more efficient, and productive, with his opportunities.   more »

Factoid: Sophomore Slump? (Wide receivers)

Yesterday I ran an item discussing the likelihood of a "sophomore slump" when it came to rookie running backs. I said I'd look at the history for wide receivers, as well, and here's that information.   more »

Around the NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers acquired Allen Robinson from the Rams yesterday. I don't think it's a particularly exciting acquisition; we've got two years of evidence to say it's over for the former star. But it's a cheap enough flier, and he's joining an offense that's headed in the right direction.   more »
