Mr. Brown has a hammy

Who benefits from A.J. absence?

Eagles wideout A.J. Brown is dealing with a hamstring injury. Not necessarily a big deal, but as we often note, hamstring issues can linger and recur. As Brown himself has proven.

A year ago, he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1, then missed the next three games entirely. Too soon to worry about that, but makes sense to look at who the beneficiaries were a year ago.

Jahan Dotson would see an uptick in snaps. Problem is that that didn't translate into much production in those three games last year. Dotson started and played most of the snaps but caught a total of 5 passes for 25 yards. But it's a new year and perhaps Dotson is more entrenched in the offense, and there's also his Week 18 game (when all the regular starters were held out), in which he caught 7 passes for 94 yards. So that's encouraging, but it was a meaningless game with a backup quarterback and Brown wasn't the only missing wideout. So hard to get too excited about Dotson.

But Dallas Goedert, who seems undervalued anyway? Him I'm definitely interested in.

Here's Goedert in those four games last year, the latter two of which DeVonta Smith also missed.

Goedert didn't catch any touchdowns in those games, and just 3 TDs all season (including the playoffs). And he's got some injuries issues of his own, missing seven games last year due to hamstring and knee injuries. He took a paycut just to stay with the team.

But I'm not sure why he's so modestly regarded in fantasy leagues. ADP data suggests he's going about 15th at the position, behind a pair of rookies and similar to Dalton Kincaid. I got him for $3 in a $100 salary cap auction last week. No one is too enamored of him.

I'll be having him on some teams, and particularly if Brown has issues with that hamstring, I think he'll pay off pretty well.
