Brock Bowers caught only one pass on Thursday night, but I don’t think anybody needs to worry about him moving into a lesser role in the Las Vegas offense. He’s a difference maker, I imagine he’ll be piling up about as many catches, yards and touchdowns as any tight end over the next four or so years.
It could be some time before we see Bowers catch one pass in a game again. It’s never happened before. Only once, in fact, has he even been held to 2 catches. He went over 100 yards in both of the two other games this year that he’s come in healthy. He’s going to be fine.
There are only two other tight ends, I think, who can be held up against Bowers as long-term prospects (that is, not looking at just this year, but the next run of years). Trey McBride is 3 years older, but he’s been awfully productive – and looking even more so now that the Cardinals are moving on from Kyler Murray.
And Tyler Warren, who’s had an outstanding rookie season. Warren looks like he’s going to be a Bowers-McBride kind of guy.
After those three guys, I think it becomes more wide open. Dalton Kincaid has been catching touchdowns for the Bills, but without a high volume of receptions. There are a couple of rookie tight ends catching a ton of balls – Harold Fannin and Oronde Gadsden – another (Colston Loveland) who was drafted even before Warren.
Sam LaPorta is in the conversation, I think, but he hasn’t built on his rookie season as much as you would like. Jake Ferguson catches a ton of balls. And Tucker Kraft; he won’t play again this year, but I imagine he’ll be Green Bay’s key receiving weapon again when the 2026 season starts. (And these are long-term rankings.)
The big upward movers this week are Gadsden and Luke Musgrave, both climbing 23 spots. (On Musgrave, this is just a stab – with more playing time, he might look a lot like Kraft in the second half of the season.)
Darren Waller and Evan Engram are the big decliners, each falling double-digit spots.
I turn my attention to dynasty leagues every Saturday during the regular season, rotating between the four notable positions. Our regular in-season rankings are numerically driven (carefully forecasting every number for every player). With dynasty rankings, they’re done by gut feel – you put together a list, and move guys around under it feels right.
I’m working off the premise of being in a 12-team league, with teams holding the rights to players indefinitely. PPR scoring, with each team probably rostering about three at the position.
