Cardinals TE Ertz out for season

Arizona Cardinals veteran tight end ZACH ERTZ will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury suffered during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los AngelesMore Rams. The 32-year-old Ertz walked off the field on his own but was later carted from the sidelines to the locker room. The Cardinals are now expected to turn to rookie tight end TREY MCBRIDE, who the team selected with the 55th overall pick in the NFL Draft earlier this year. Less

Factoid: Rookie tight ends

Trey McBride was the first tight end selected, the only one drafted in the first two rounds. But he went to Arizona, where the team just gave Zach Ertz a new three-year contract, so at best he'll be the 2nd option at the position there this season. But rookie tight ends making an impact are rare anyway.   more »

There won’t be a tight end selected in the first round. There might not be one chosen in the top 50. But if form holds, there will be some who’ll put up good rookie numbers and have good careers.  more »
