It would be questionable to see another Class of 2025 running back getting drafted before Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. Last season, he became a Unanimous All-American, a Doak Walker Award winner, and a Maxwell Award winner after finishing with 374 carries for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns.
However, despite those impressive numbers, it’s still uncertain where Jeanty will land in the 2025 NFL Draft. He shared his thoughts about his NFL future in an article on The Players Tribune.
“I’ve taken the long way. I’m done with that way. If you pick me, it’s simple: I’m coming to your franchise to do what Saquon (Barkley) and the Eagles just did. I’m coming to win, big, soon,” Jeanty said. That’s a tall order, considering Barkley helped the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LIX and finish the regular season with over 2,000 rushing yards.
Likewise, the two-time Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year summarized his football journey by saying, “I’ve played defensive end, safety, outside linebacker, special teams, slot receiver, lead running back, backup running back, backup everything. I’ve played street football, rec league football, road trip to a small town in Belgium football, 5A Texas high school football, college playoff football and no football.”
