Broncos TE Dulcich dealing with hamstring issue

Denver Broncos tight end GREG DULCICH is expected to miss “multiple weeks” after suffering an injury to the same hamstring he injured three times during his rookie year. Denver head coachMore Sean Payton spoke in the offseason of Dulcich as a potential “joker” to be moved around as a pass catching target. Prior to his injury on Sunday, that appeared to be his role and the Broncos moved the ball effectively with him on the field. After trading tight end ALBERT OKUWEUGBUNAM to Philadelphia late in the offseason, the Broncos no longer have a tight end who possesses Dulcich’s skill set. Less

Broncos coach Payton impressed with TE Dulcich

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has taken note of second-year tight end GREG DULCICH, who is being heavily involved in the team’s OTA practices thus far. Dulcich finished last seasonMore with the second-most yards among rookie tight ends despite playing at least five fewer games than the other rookies in the top five. Payton noted that Dulcich has “a unique skill set”, adding that his young tight end has strong traits in the passing game. Around the NFL: Greg Dulcich

There’s been some indications in Denver that it might be Greg Dulcich, rather than Albert Okwuegbunam, who’s the team’s leading tight end. The Broncos picked Dulcich in the third round, and he’s definitely more of a pass catcher than a blocker.  more »

Factoid: Rookie tight ends

Trey McBride was the first tight end selected, the only one drafted in the first two rounds. But he went to Arizona, where the team just gave Zach Ertz a new three-year contract, so at best he'll be the 2nd option at the position there this season. But rookie tight ends making an impact are rare anyway.   more »
