Factoid: Raheem Mostert

That was a pretty remarkable season put together by Raheem Mostert. At age 31, he came up with 21 touchdowns. But I don’t think I’ll have much interest in even thinking about selecting him before the late rounds in drafts next summer.  more »

Around the NFL: Black Friday Takeaways

The first-ever Friday night football game is in the books. Amazon paid over $100 million for it, and I think they may want their money back. A prime-time game we would have hoped for if Aaron Rodgers was still under center, but hey, more football is better than less football. Let’s dive into the key takeaways.   more »

Around the NFL: Miami running backs

The Dolphins have placed DeVon Achane on IR with a knee injury, a blow to those who have him (and a boon for those yet to face him). He'll miss at least the next four games. But Miami itself should be fine.   more »

Dynasty Leagues: Devon Achane

Devon Achane screamed up rookie draft boards after being selected in the third round by the Dolphins. At the peak, his ADP was 1.08 (it has since settled to 1.12). Though he was always a well-regarded prospect, he was never going to go in the middle of the first before he became a Dolphin. I get it, Miami’s a flashy spot for a running back – especially a speedster like Achane – but is Achane really worth a first-round pick? I don’t think so.   more »

Dolphins RB Mostert has broken thumb

Miami Dolphins running back RAHEEM MOSTERT suffered a broken thumb during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, leaving his status for this weekends playoff game against the Buffalo Bills inMore question. If Mostert can’t play, fellow running back JEFF WILSON will likely be the next man up in the Dolphins backfield. Speaking of next man up, quarterback TUA TAGOVAILOA remains in the NFL concussion protocol while fellow signal-caller TEDDY BRIDGEWATER continues to deal with an injured pinky finger. Less

Dolphins improve pass rush, shuffle backfield ahead of trade deadline

The Miami Dolphins improved their defense ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, acquiring pass rusher BRADLEY CHUBB from the Denver Broncos for a package that includes a 2023 first-round pick. The DolphinsMore also sent running back CHASE EDMONDS to the Broncos, replacing him later in the day by trading for San Francisco 49ers running back JEFF WILSON. Less

Fantasy News: Jeff Wilson

To me, Jeff Wilson looks like the best of the waiver wire possibilities this week. The injury to Eli Mitchell will elevate him into a larger role, and Wilson has been a capable replacement in previous seasons.  more »

Around the NFL: Jeff Wilson

When it's time to start throwing late-round picks at running backs down the depth chart, how about Jeff Wilson? He's in a situation that has long been productive for players at the position, and he's delivered when given the chance. No reason to think it can't happen again.   more »

Around the NFL: Raheem Mostert

Injury-prone is a word that probably gets tossed around too frequently. Football is violent game where everyone gets hurt on occasion, and there's plenty of luck involved in staying healthy. But I think it can be reasonably applied to some players, which brings us to Raheem Mostert.   more »

Around the NFL: San Francisco running backs

Of all the practice reports to monitor leading up to Week 17, none looks more important than San Francisco's. The 49ers are at home against the Texans' 30th-ranked run defense, so they're going to have a great running back. The hope is it will be Elijah Mitchell.  more »

Factoid: Here we go again?

When the 49ers used their sixth-round pick on Elijah Mitchell, I jokingly suggested that we should all be keeping an eye on him. Kyle Shanahan’s track record with lightly regarded running backs, after all, is pretty stellar. With the first week of the season in the books, this is now looking a lot more possible.  more »
