Panthers QB Newton, LB Kuechly not playing in preseason opener

Carolina quarterback CAM NEWTON and linebacker LUKE KUECHLY will not play in the Panthers preseason opener against the Chicago Bears. Head coach Ron Rivera said that the team wanted to see the young guys, adding that they will be careful with Newton and Kuechly.

Factoid: Kuechly keeps churning out the tackles

Working on the IDP story for the magazine, three linebackers look to be head and shoulders above the rest. One is Raven C.J. Mosley, who supplements big tackle numbers by also making plays (6 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles over the last two seasons). Kuechly clears concussion protocol

Carolina middle linebacker LUKE KUECHLY has cleared the concussion protocol and is expected to play on Sunday against Tampa Bay. Kuechly was a full participant in practice this week so he should be a nice addition to the Panthers defense, both the real one and the fantasy version.

Kuechly unlikely to play Sunday

Carolina middle linebacker LUKE KUECHLY remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and looks unlikely to play on Sunday against Seattle. When Kuechly made the trip west with the team, there was hope that he might be progressing. Unfortunately for the Panthers, that no longer appears to be the case.
