You’ve got the hand it to Matt Nagy. He’s hanging in there with those wide receiver running plays. They rarely amount to much, but he keeps calling them.   more »

Around the NFL: Mecole Hardman

I’m not a big Mecole Hardman fan. He caught only 1 pass with the Jets, who were looking to get rid of him. But Hardman is back in Kansas City, and Andy Reid indicates he expects Hardman will play on Sunday.   more »

Cobb pushing Hardman as Jets WR3?

With veteran New York Jets wide receiver RANDALL COBB feeling the best he has in years, and head coach Robert Saleh repeatedly gushing about him, there could be a bigger roleMore than initially expected for him in the Jets receiving corps. Cobb obviously knows the offense and star quarterback AARON RODGERS, but he has also taken frequent first-team reps through training camp. While GARRETT WILSON and ALLEN LAZARD are set as the starters, fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Cobb as he attempts to overtake fellow wide receiver MECOLE HARDMAN on the depth chart. Less

Veteran Jets WR Davis “stepping away” from NFL

New York Jets wide receiver COREY DAVIS made a surprising announcement on Wednesday that he is “stepping away” from the NFL. The 28-year-old Davis has been away from the team inMore recent days for personal reasons. Davis caught 66 passes for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns in 22 games during his two seasons with the Jets. The Jets have overhauled their receiving corps around second-year star GARRETT WILSON, bringing in veteran free agents ALLEN LAZARD, MECOLE HARDMAN JR. and RANDALL COBB. Less

Kansas City brings back WR Watson

Kansas City is planning to bring back one of their own free agent wide receivers, re-signing wideout JUSTIN WATSON to a two-year contract worth up to $6 million. The former fifth-roundMore pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers caught just 15 passes for 315 yards and 2 touchdowns while appearing in 17 regular season games for Kansas City last season. With fellow wideouts JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER and MECOLE HARDMAN departing this offseason via free agency, Watson should have every opportunity to exceed last year’s modest totals. Less

Kansas City adds depth with WR James signing

Kansas City agreed to contract terms late last week with former San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants wide receiver RICHIE JAMES. James provides depth to a wide receiver corps thatMore lost both JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER and MECOLE HARDMAN via free agency this offseason. James is coming off a career-best 2022 season in which he had 57 catches for 569 yards and 4 touchdowns. Less

Skyy the limit for Kansas City WR Moore?

With wide receivers JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER and MECOLE HARDMAN no longer in town after departing via free agency, Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said recently that the team is “expecting SKYYMore MOORE to step up” heading into the upcoming season. Moore is entering his second season but did not get much action as a rookie due to a deep wideout corps. With a move up the depth chart, the sky could be the limit for Moore. Less

Cleveland trades for former Jets WR Moore

The Cleveland Browns traded for New York Jets third-year receiver ELIJAH MOORE on Wednesday, giving up their No. 42 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft and getting a third-round pickMore from the Jets in return. Moore became available when the Jets signed former Kansas City wide receiver MECOLE HARDMAN earlier in the day. Moore asked to be traded before the deadline last season, and the Browns were one of the teams who tried to acquire him. He now heads to Cleveland where he will be catching passes from DESHAUN WATSON. Less

Jets add speedy free agent WR Hardman

The New York Jets have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former Kansas City wide receiver MECOLE HARDMAN. The 25-year-old speedster underwent surgery to repair a core injury lastMore month and played only eight games in the regular season last year for Kansas City. Hardman gives the Jets another weapon on offense as they wait for a trade for quarterback AARON RODGERS to be completed with Green Bay. Less

Hardman had successful surgery

Kansas City wide receiver MECOLE HARDMAN reportedly had successful surgery earlier this week to repair a core injury suffered during the 2022 season. Hardman initially suffered the injury in Week #9More and he was eventually placed on Injured Reserve, missing the remainder of the regular season. Hardman did finally return for the AFC Championship game, but he couldn’t finish the game after reaggravating the injury during his second reception. Kansas City adjusts injured reserve list, one up and one down

Kansas City activated running back CLYDE EDWARDS-HELAIRE from injured reserve on Monday ahead of the Super Bowl matchup against Philadelphia. Unfortunately for MECOLE HARDMAN fantasy owners, the team added Hardman toMore the injured reserve list in a corresponding move. Edwards-Helaire had been sidelined since suffering a high ankle sprain way back in Week #11. Meanwhile, Hardman aggravated his pelvis injury in the AFC title game and his move to IR means he will not play in the upcoming Super Bowl. Less

Kansas City offense banged up heading into Super Bowl

Kansas City quarterback PATRICK MAHOMES was limping badly by the end of Sunday’s AFC Championship game and will likely use the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl for restMore and recovery. The same can be said for tight end TRAVIS KELCE, who played through remnants of back spasms that left him limited on Sunday. A trio of wideouts will also benefit from the additional recovery time, including KADARIUS TONEY (ankle), JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER (knee), and MECOLE HARDMAN (pelvis). All three watched the dramatic conclusion of Sunday’s game from the sideline. Less

Factoid: Kansas City

Patrick Mahomes threw 41 touchdowns in the regular season, and he did it without any of the wide receivers on his team catching more than 4 touchdowns. Kansas City doesn’t use that position much inside the red zone. More commonly, Kansas City has featured Travis Kelce and Jerick McKinnon around the goal line. Kelce has caught 12 touchdowns (plus 2 more in the playoffs), while McKinnon has caught 9.   more »
